My musical journey
I was born in the vibrant province of Naples, where I initially studied Economics. However, my real passion for music started much earlier in my life. When I was seven, my grandmother, who was a talented pianist, introduced me to the piano. I quickly discovered that I had a natural musical ear and I could easily recognize chords and melodies.
I didn't follow the usual route into music education, but the piano became my foundation. Over time, I started writing lyrics, composing original pieces and putting together arrangements that reflected my evolving style.
When I was 14, I started performing at various clubs around Naples between 1995 and 2000. My set list included
everything from classic hits of the '60s to contemporary favourites. During this exciting time, I also passed the exam to become an author and composer at SIAE, which marked the start of my recording journey.
In 1995, I was lucky enough to be offered a fantastic opportunity to join a band in Milan as a keyboardist and backing vocalist for a pop-reggae album called Grande, produced by BMG Ricordi. Although I didn't get to take part in the studio recordings, I contributed in main live performances, appearing on popular music TV shows like Roxy Bar
and Segnali di Fumo. A few of these live performances can still be found on YouTube, capturing the essence of that dynamic period in my young musical life.
My musical evolution
After parting ways with the band in 1997, I returned to Naples to focus on completing my studies while continuing to perform at local clubs on weekends. During this time, I poured my heart into writing and arranging my own songs, ultimately expanding my repertoire. Recently, I’ve revisited these pieces, digitally rearranging them with professional equipment to breathe new life into my music.
As I delved deeper into my passion, I dedicated myself to mastering the piano, honing my ability to understand and harmonize complex chords. Today, thanks to my developed “relative ear,” I can grasp the harmonic structure of a song just by listening. This unique talent empowers me to create original piano arrangements that are entirely my
own, free from pre-existing scores, allowing my creativity to shine through in every performance.
My YouTube channel: GianniM Piano

In 2017, I launched my YouTube channel, GianniM Piano, with a mission to share detailed piano tutorials that truly resonate. Unlike many channels that focus on popular hits, I shine a spotlight on beautiful yet underrated pieces, like “Spicchio di Luna” by Sergio Caputo and “E la chiamava Estate” by Bruno Martino. One of the standout features of my tutorials is the inclusion of the melody in my arrangements—an aspect often overlooked by others. I believe this approach offers amore complete performance experience for viewers.
The enthusiastic response to my early videos motivated me to create even more content. I also began crafting sheet music for some of my tutorials, a meticulous process that’s especially rewarding for someone without a classical music background. Utilizing software like Cubase, I refine my digital performances, collaborating with professional musicians to produce polished scores ready for printing, all of which you can find in the dedicated section of my site.
In addition to my love for the piano, I’ve always been passionate about keyboards and digital music. This led me to diversify my channel with technical videos aimed at Yamaha keyboard enthusiasts, where I explore advanced features like split points and style selection.
I also launched a series called The Perfect Style, where I recommend ideal styles for performing specific songs, providing real-time details on tempo and chords. Recently, I’ve even started producing my own high-quality song styles. This is just the beginning of an
exciting journey, and if you’re here, you’re already part of it!
